    Time Event
    1:41a
    Xenodisappointment
Well, uh, so much for hoping to spend the day drowning in Shion-ey goodness; today was the *ship* date, and it won't actually be in stores until tomorrow. So, there I was, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the Kings Highway GameStop...and then, five minutes later, there I *also* was, going, 'well, fuck.'

So much for plans for the evening.

    ---

Tsubasa episode 40 clearly had to be another anime original. 'Let's see, how *can* we possibly explain away just why Kurogane is the confused, ruthless, obsessive, and generally fucked up person that he is? Ooh, I know, let's first put him into a perfect childhood, and then make him see everything he loves destroyed in the span of two minutes. Yay!'

Hell, with this kind of set-up, it's amazing he turned out to be *not a complete psychopath*...

    ---

WTF. Why is the Saiyuki OVA like the most popular torrent on AnimeSuki. What is this, 2000?

    Master of the obvious?
I can't help but still, and always, find it confusing to no end when a newspaper or website cheerfully trashes something in a review...and then, a second later, tries to convince you to drop money on the same thing with an ad. I mean, yeah, I *know* like the First Law of Media is that editorial and advertising must be kept separate, but to me, something like this feels, cynical at best and really, just plain-out hypocritical.

    Heh.

At twelve thirty, checked out the Eighth Street GameStop. No joy - the shipment wasn't set to come in until around two. On the other hand, when I asked whether if I picked the game up there, instead of going back down to Kings Highway, would I still get the artbook, the guy at the register just reached down and gave me a copy. Something tells me they're clearly *not* expecting a run on the things.

...I think now I'm pretty much obligated to hit up the KH store, so that I can have *two* artbooks.

...and, of course, just give one to Shelly. Or whoever else wants to claim; it's a BradyGames job, so, basically, just bigger-size images of the character models and sketches, plus some details.

...such as, Momo's corset thing. So, if you want to cosplay III!Momo *in* her corset thing, you know exactly where to look.

...as retail therapy, then stumbled across the street and into the B&N. There will be Xenosaga...but right now, there *is* War at Sea in the Ironclad Age.

I do the weirdest kind of retail therapy ever?

    Have game.

...on the other hand, am also very tired; only managed to drift off to sleepdeath at like five last night. Something drastic, like, oh, say, a *pack* of No-Doz sounds vaguely tempting...but I think I'll take my chances and see what a couple of hours of sleep can do.

Xenosaga III log - Wednesday 1: "Any time anyone says something in Latin, do a shot"
    An hour or so in.

    - Any time Fei Abel randomly appears and tears a hole in reality, do *another* shot.
    - Allen wants Shion. Miyuki wants Shion. But Shion doesn't want Allen *or* Miyuki, and wants KOS-MOS. Allen and Miyuki should just get drunk, hook up, and get all the angst over with?
    - Monolithsoft whatever. It's a Square game, now and always. And, *because* it's a Square game, in the middle of a voice-over, one of the speakers will *inevitably* have his line be "..."
    - One of the Testaments: "She smells good. I'm in love with her already"
    - Sample dialogue:

    Miyuki: Shion, there's something weird!
Shion (visibly frustrated with the poor fangirl): 'Something'? I've told you time and again to make precise reports you dumb bitch!
Miyuki: (...at which point, you can hear her heart shatter): Well, there's a strange fluctuation in the particle flow. It started about 300 seconds ago. Looks like a fractal pattern.

    ::big-ass dragon thing appears::

...and, for his part, Canaan: The backup completed with 0.002 (...which he of course pronounces as zero point zero zero two) nanoseconds to spare. Damn, I'm good!
