Just a random whiteboi. Otaku. Gamer. Failed...quite a lot of things, actually. Otaku some more. Oh, and Stuy '99 and GWU '04, international affairs. Every now and then, I write papers just for the fuck of it - or at least come up with titles of papers I'll *eventually* write just for the fuck of it. More often, play with my website. Even more often than that, stare breathlessly at some anime series or another on a computer screen. My drug (for a very loose definition of drug) of choice remains life, with vodka and peppermint schnapps coming in close second. And my motto in life is simple, as far as that goes. Never amazed, only amused.
Currently conventions correspondent for the Anime News Network, co-moderator for the Anime and Manga Research Circle Mailing List and a senior staffer of one of the larger U.S. anime cons.
After two years and a month of trying to prove that I can function on the outer fringes of the world of finance, realized that I really ought to be doing something with my reality that doesn't drive me to hard liquor and bad beer on a nightly basis. So, said bye-bye, cruel Real World, and from January 2007 to December 2008, did the grad student thing at Indiana University, Bloomington, a town I will from now on pimp endlessly, ending up with a master's in library science.
Which is to say, yup, am an actual diploma-ed librarian. Though if you want me to be all grad student-ey, "my academic interest is primarily in social informatics in general and knowledge-sharing in particular, and my approaches are generally informed by critical theory." Also, I have no intention whatsoever of ever ending up in a public library.
Of course, getting the MLS was the easy part: 'getting back to actual gainful employment' is where the real fun is at...
...the hard liquor and bad beer still remain.
